The action of the film The E-Team will be driven by the high-stakes investigative work of Anna Neistat, Fred Abrahams and Peter Bouckaert, three key members of Human Rights Watch’s Emergency Team.
Though they are three very different personalities, Anna, Fred and Peter share a fearless spirit and a deep commitment to exposing and halting human rights abuses all over the world.
Peter Bouckaert, a savvy strategist and fearless investigator, is a Belgian national living in Geneva with his wife and children. Rolling Stone magazine called him 'the James Bond of human-rights investigators'. Fred Abrahams is a young New York City native with a wickedly dry sense of humor and a tireless energy. Anna Neistat, a Russian émigré, is as fashionable as she is formidable.
Dedicated and energetic, all three members of the E-Team bring an infectious fascination to the subjects they are tackling.
Long Synopsis
THE E-TEAM (working title) will follow the incredibly courageous work of three intrepid young human rights workers who are on the frontlines of identifying international human rights abuses. Dramatic and crucial, the work of the E-Team is custom-made for a compelling documentary film. THE E-TEAM is a creative collaboration of filmmakers Ross Kauffman and Katy Chevigny.

Dedicated and energetic, all three members of the E-Team bring an infectious fascination to the subjects they are tackling. Their contrasting characters lend nuance to the film and draw viewers into their stories.
The film’s narrative will be fueled by the strong plot structure that springs naturally from the E-Team’s investigative process. In the field with the E-Team members, we will follow them as they piece together the actual events that took place in various hotspots around the globe.

Katy Chevigny is an award-winning filmmaker and a co-founder of Big Mouth Productions. She co-directed the Emmy-nominated E-TEAM with Ross Kauffman, which won the award for Best Cinematography at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Netflix for a worldwide release. She also directed ELECTION DAY (2007) which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2007 and was broadcast on PBS in 2008. With Kirsten Johnson, she co-directed DEADLINE, an investigation into Illinois Governor George Ryan’s commutation of death sentences. After premiering at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, DEADLINE was broadcast on NBC to an audience of over six million, in an unusual acquisition of an independent film by a major network. Chevigny’s films have been shown theatrically, on HBO, Cinemax, POV, Independent Lens, NBC, Arte/ZDF, Britain’s Channel 4, and others, and have played at festivals around the world, including Sundance, Tribeca, Full Frame, SXSW, IDFA, Sheffield and Berlin.

Katy Chevigny (Deadline, Election Day) and Ross Kauffman (Born Into Brothels) have made award-winning documentaries that address critical human rights issues through vibrant human stories.
Born Into Brothels won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Documentary and Deadline was broadcast as a primetime special on NBC and won the Thurgood Marshall.
