What is a natural wine? A fermented grape juice, produced as naturally as possible, and which takes into account the specificities of terroir. Natural wine is a phenomenon gaining ground and turning into a real debate. Is it a passing fad, or a sustainable revolution?
Long Synopsis
The director shares these questions and takes the audience with him into the heart of an in-depth, first-person, exhilarating investigation. Calling upon winemakers but also journalists, economists, researchers and philosophers, the director presents and interrogates these different visions of the world, in an enquiry that goes beyond the scope of a simple drink.
Crew
Philippe Gasnier
Philippe Gasnier is a documentary filmmaker and a musician. He has written and directed six creative documentaries.
His last music documentary film, Zanzibar Musical Club, 85 & 52 minutes, completed in summer 2009, was produced by lesfilmsduprésent (France), EIKON Südwest (Germany) and ZDF/ARTE. Zanzibar Musical Club has been selected in 28 international film festivals since its world premiere at Festival Dei Popoli on November 2009.
Since 2004, the production company lesfilmsduprésent (carrying on the activity of Heure d’été Productions - 1994 to 2003) has produced mainly creative documentaries which endeavour to question the world that surrounds us in all its complexity.
lesfilmsduprésent started with films about dance and music and, since then, in creative documentaries on social issues, the company carries the awareness that there are stories to be told using rhythm, or using bodies in movement - seeking what there is that lies beyond words and beyond speech.
