When a single mother learns her writing skills can ease her financial troubles, she joins the secret ranks of thousands of educated Kenyan’s in the $1billion ‘Fake Essay’ industry. Paid by privileged American & UK students to write their college papers she earns decent money but becomes trapped in a loop of illegitimate work. When the press uncovers the scam, prompting government crackdowns their futures and the legitimacy of Western education are threatened. If the worlds’ elite can pay for degrees they didn’t earn - and educated Kenyan’s cannot find well-paid work outside of this industry then what is the real value of education?
