A street carnival in Haiti reveals many unwritten histories of the country’s past. A cinematic representation of director Leah Gordon’s photographic and oral history book ‘Kanaval: Vodou, Politics and Revolution on the Streets of Haiti’, this visually arresting film is set in the present but also tells the rich story of Haiti’s past, as we follow a number of carnival performers in the lead up to and during the Jacmel Mardi Gras.
